There have been some coyote sightings near the school grounds and the forested area beside them. Like anything in the wild, coyotes should be respected, however, the chance of a negative encounter is extremely low. Research that examined ten years of reports indicated that an average of 2.4 people per year were scratched or bitten by coyotes in Canada. The following statistics are provided for comparison of risk of coyote attack relative to other daily risks in Canada (Statistics Canada 2009): •Over 460,000 dog bites per year •200 people per year struck by lightning. Every year the school board provides bus safety presentations for our students. Our first one takes place on Thursday, November 15 for our Primary students. The second is on Monday, November 26 for our Junior and Intermediate students.

On Monday, November 19 your child will be bringing home their Progress Report. Student led conferences will be held on Friday, November 23, which is a PD day and there are no classes for students that day. Home room teachers will notify you on how to set up your child’s interview time.

The school could use the following items if you have any extra at home! Kleenex boxes for the classrooms, plastic cutlery for kids/parents who forget and snack-sized ziplock bags for ice packs. Please drop off in the office and we will distribute accordingly. Thank you!

Parents! Please take a moment to check the weather before sending your child to school. As the temperatures drop, your child needs to be dressed appropriately to spend a minimum of two, twenty minute sessions outdoors. Many of our students are not dressing warmly enough, particularly if they also walk to and from school.
