WEEK AT A GLANCE

SEPTEMBER 17 - 21, 2018

Monday, September 17 is a PA Day.

There is no school for students!

SAVE THE DATE for our CURRICULUM NIGHT! It will take place on Wednesday, September 19;  6:30 - 7:30 pm. Principal Joe Toth and all of the teaching staff will be in the Gymnasium at 6:30 pm. After a short introduction by Mr. Toth, parents will be invited to go to their childrens’ classrooms to meet the teacher and hear about the curriculum for that grade level.

A reminder that the deadline for handing in School Council Nomination forms at the main office is 4:00 PM on Friday, September 21, 2018. During the week of September 24 all nominations will be posted on the bulletin board in the main entrance of the school. Our first School Council meeting/election will take place at 6:30 pm on Monday, October 1st. All parents are welcome to attend our school council meetings.

Calling all volunteers! The Fall Fair will take place on Saturday, October 13. If you haven’t already signed up, there will be a sign up desk in the main entrance hall, during curriculum night. Look for an electronic copy of the Fall Fair brochure, which will be heading home in the next week or so. Questions about volunteering may be directed to  Nidhi Wadhwa at nidhigandhi@yahoo.com.

Milk and Pizza programs start on Monday, September 24. The milk fee is now closed, however pizza may still be purchased through SchoolCashOnline until Tuesday, September 18. The first session for both programs runs  from September 24 through November 30, 2018. Please note that students will no longer be able to make cash purchases for pizza on scheduled days. Please feel free to contact the school if you do not know your child’s student number for signing up.

The grade 6 overnight Mansfield trip will be taking place October 10, 11 and 12th, 2018. A parent information night has been scheduled for TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25 at 6:30 pm. Mansfield’s Outdoor Centre provides hands-on learning experiences that complement and supplement the current Ontario Curriculum. Overall, their residential program is a mix of academic pursuits, physical and recreational activities as well as social/emotional growth and development of each participant. All the programs  are totally integrated, thereby making the students’ residential stay a community of living and learning.

School Photo Day is Thursday, September 27th. If your child will not be here on that day, our retake day is Tuesday, October 23.

Plan on wearing your smiles!

Fire Prevention Week takes place the week of October 1. You are invited to the Oakville Fire Department’s 19th Annual Fire Prevention Week Kickoff! A free BBQ will be provided by McDonalds. The event takes place at the Oakville Fire Department Training Campus. Visit Oakville.ca for more details.
