JWH Weekly Update

October 29 - November 2, 2018

JWH Spirit Parade.  Wednesday, October 31, Period 1, for FDK to Grade 3. Grades 4 to 8 will line the halls and encourage community spirit and FUN. Please refer to the e-mail that was sent home earlier this week with regard to appropriate attire. A reminder also that due to the variety of allergies in the school, we ask parents to not send in treats for sharing. Thank you.

On November 7, we will be sending home a Macmillan’s fundraising brochure just in time for holiday entertaining. All orders may be purchased on SchoolCashOnline. The FIRM deadline for orders is Wednesday, November 21,  in order to meet the December deadline for delivery. There will be no orders taken after November 21. Thank you and happy entertaining!

On Thursday, November 8, our grade 2 students will be heading to the Royal Botanical Gardens. The deadline for payment is Monday, November 5. Please pack a litterless lunch and check the weather on the day so that your child is dressed appropriately to spend most of the time outdoors.

Our grade 3 students have a field trip to Black Creek Pioneer Village on Wednesday, November 14. Again, the deadline for payment is Monday, November 5. This is also an outdoor trip and students will need to be dressed for weather. Please provide a litterless lunch.

A new PIZZA ordering period is now available on SchoolCashOnline. The next session runs from December 3 to February 4, 2019. The FIRM deadline for ordering pizza for the next session is Tuesday, November 27. The current session finishes on Monday, November 26.

The Lunch Lady program continues to run on Wednesdays and Fridays. Parents may participate in the program at any time. Just go to the Lunch Lady website, navigate to James W. Hill and place your orders directly. A reminder that we will not be providing cutlery, so please order it with your child’s meal.

School Council is pleased to announce that starting next week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the LunchBox Orders program will start up again. This Canadian company allows schools to provide lunches from a rotating choice of local restaurant chains. Orders are are placed and paid for directly through their website;, with a personally created secure account, that accepts credit card payments. Weekly orders must be submitted by Sunday at noon for the following week. Additional information may be found on their website.

Our Student Parliament has chosen to run this year’s Fall Food Drive.  We are collecting non-perishable food items to help support those in need within our community. The class that brings in the most food will be awarded with our new school mascot award! The Food Drive will run until November 2nd.  We appreciate your generosity and support!

A Remembrance Day celebration will be held at the school on Friday, November 9. Details will follow. Poppies are currently in the office for a minimum donation of 25 cents. Parents and family members are welcome to attend.
