STUDENT REGISTRATION PROCESS - JAMES W. HILL
Welcome to James W. Hill. We are located at 2860 Kingsway Drive, Oakville, ON. Please read all the instructions for student registration carefully. These instructions can also be found on the Halton District School Board Website.
STEP 1

Important Note: All school offices are open to register students for school in the Halton District School Board
For language assistance, please contact the HDSB Welcome Centre. In order to assist you in completing the registration process for your child at the HDSB, we have formulated these
questions to guide you to where to begin your registration process.
STEP 2
Identify your child’s home school. Refer to information at “Find My Local School”.
STEP 3
How to Register Online
Start your pre-registration process by completing the online form at the link below
Request a new account to begin the process
Once you have submitted the online form, you will receive a confirmation email indicating you’ve successfully completed pre-registration
Then call the school to make an appointment to finalize your registration

Please note: The online registration link does not function properly on mobile devices (phone or tablet). Please use a desktop computer or laptop (including a Chromebook). If you do not have a laptop or desktop, please complete the Student Registration Form. To fill out the form electronically, please download and save the PDF first. A scanned version completed by hand is also acceptable.
Registration forms must be completed by the Parent/Guardian, or student if 18 years of age or older. Once the Student Registration Form is complete, please contact the school to complete the registration process. Please refer to the HDSB School Registration Contact Information.
STEP 4
Mandatory Documents to Complete Registration.
Once the Student Registration Form is received by the school contact, the school will acknowledge receipt of the Student Registration Form and share the process for providing the mandatory documents to enter your child(ren) in the system.
These include:
Proof of child’s age: birth certificate or passport or baptismal/faith record for your child
Proof of address (any two of the following documents): lease or deed, car registration, utility bill, residential telephone bill, moving bill, property tax bill, bank statement, credit card statement, correspondence with a government agency. Important Note: A driver’s license will not be accepted as documentation for “proof of address”.
Proof of child’s citizenship: birth certificate or passport, Record of Landing (IMM 1000)or Permanent Resident Card
Proof of custody: if you are not the parent and your child is under 18 you must provide proof of custody (court order)
STEP 5
For the next school year (2024-25) for Kindergarten Students only
Kindergarten (Year 1): If your child will be 4 by December 31, 2024.
Kindergarten (Year 2): If your child will be 5 by December 31, 2024.
The following forms should also be completed for students entering Kindergarten for the first time. The school will provide further information for submitting these forms when acknowledging receipt of the completed Student Registration Form.
NOTE: Kindergarten students where:
The parent has a Work Permit AND is registering their first child in the family with HDSB,
The parent/child has a Study Permit/Visa, or
The parent is a Permanent Resident applicant on visitor status should register via the Welcome Centre. Refer to the process under “New and/or Returning to Ontario” below.
We have developed these questions to help you navigate the registration process for your child within the HDSB. Please respond to these questions for each child you wish to register, separately.
